The Common

I wish I had read not only the positive reviews but also the negative ones before I suggested a friend to meet there. We had trouble looking for the place, and we each ended up paying over $210NT for a get-together less than 2 hours. I would have much preferred a nice coffee at a regular café for only half of the price we paid, getting fully serviced, and not having to worry about the time we spent.
The coffee shop is indeed quirky and well-hidden. I hope it provides the required means of escape in case of a fire. Customers are charged $2 for every minute, for a maximum of $240. The charging system reminds me of an Internet Café. The coffee that they offer unlimitedly happened to be 'out of stock, ' so one has to pay extra $10 for an Americano. And, a customer has to write down his order and orders at the front, and brings empty cups to the front.
I think I will only consider coming back to this place when I plan to stick around for long hours.

這家咖啡店是我在台北去過最喜歡的！香港的咖啡店完全比不上。它雖然在繁華的路上，卻很安靜跟peaceful~服務員態度很好很親切。我最喜歡的是他們的收費模式，一分鐘兩塊，無限的咖啡，你喜歡做多長時間也沒問題！推薦大家試試看！

One of my favorite cafes in the world and definitely my favorite cafe in Taipei. It is exactly as it self-proclaims: it is a home away from home. The atmosphere is soft and consolatory, with dim lights, great music, carefully picked objects and dry flowers building up the perfect ambiance. Szymborska and Picasso will keep you company from the walls of this pictoresque refuge, where sipping tea always acquires extra enjoyment. The stuff is extremely kind, the prices are pretty low and they have a beautiful time-based payment: nobody will ever make you feel uncomfortable so as to make you free your spot while you read a book or chat with your friends. You get charged by time and the maximum you can get charged for an entire day is basically 7 euros, and you can help yourself to drinks indefinitely. They have a nice tea selection, but the reason why you have to go is the loving care that permeates the cafe, which is full of nice details, lovely initiatives (the 'hello stranger' cards!) and chances to create or develop deep connection with either previously known or unknown people. Hidden as it is, in a street imbued with an intolerable stinky tofu smell, it still strikes me how the staircase that takes to it, is quite literally a staircase to another dimension - one where to find a bit of calmness and gentle magic. The Common is the place where you can allow for contemplative sweetness to boil up in you.

Chilled spot for pretty much anything. Morning coffee, studying, language exchange. Friendly staff. Classy decor. Fantastic rooftop space. Great place for events.

這是一家非常悠閒的咖啡廳，就是讓你坐著看書、討論或發呆的地方，特定飲品無限喝，能無限暢飲的有咖啡、國寶茶、綠茶、約克夏茶、黑糖紅茶、錫蘭紅茶等，入內之後按時間計費，每分鐘兩塊錢，上限240元，台大學生有打折，上限200元，此外有下午茶點心等餐點可以加購，除了批薩稍微貴一點之外，都是平易近人的價錢，當成自己是花兩百四十元來這邊喝咖啡，沒有坐滿兩個小時還會退錢這樣待起來會比較自在，比較需要注意的是這裡很難找，在小巷子裡的三樓，還有營業時間會隨著台大是否開學而變動這兩點。
（台大沒開學只會營業到下午八點，反之則是十點半，另外他要中午才會開門，通常兩三點就會客滿，沒把握的可以打電話預約）

A well-hidden and eerily peaceful cafe situated above a narrow, noisy alleyway. It’s not easy to find though- just look out for a stinky tofu cafe and you’ll spot a staircase. Follow that to the third floor. Truly one of those places you can stay all day to get through a book or do some work.

The people are friendly and the place is cute. However:

1. It is priced 2ntd per minute. 2 hours would cost 240ntd: much higher average than other cafes.

2. Some drinks are unlimited, such as their vanilla coffee. But it is one of the WORST coffees I’ve had in Taipei. Even if drinks are unlimited, you do not want more than 1. In fact, you would be better off paying NOT to drink their drinks.

3. They reminded me to return my cup by myself to their counter. They just stood there, smiling and watching me carrying two big bags to return inside of the space, fetch my cup, and come back out to the register.

4. The ticket system puts a lot or pressure on counting your minutes spent in the space.

5. You must take a ticket inside of the stair space before entering. If you forget, you must go back downstairs and take a ticket and come back upstairs. Once you get in, you grab a seat. Then you go back to the counter, write down your drink on your ticket, hang it on a clothespin at the counter, and wait for them to prepare your drink. It’s a lot of work for a drink, when you could get drinks faster and more efficiently at a normal café.

It is a nice environment and the staff was nice.
However, it is very expensive as they charge by minute, and the tea / coffee was pretty subpar.

There does seem to be a time limit to being charged, though, so if you stay long, you won’t be constantly charged and can get refills. So, if you want to stay for a long time and get food / drinks during that time, you may enjoy it.

A great coffee shop with an interesting vibe! It’s one of those coffee shops that’s good to stay in for hours to relax or get things done.

另外每天晚上7：00-10：00是星空時段（計費上限是120，我認為是最值得的時段）

餐點口味就一般，我會給三顆星
留言很推薦的布朗尼從30漲到40了，巧克力蠻濃的，但不太合諧，吃到後面很膩
司康有淡淡的奶香味，但整體過硬，所以還是三顆星
簡述一下空間，有和式地板適合多人開會，也有一般木椅，當然少不了舒適的沙發，可能入口不好找的關係（圖片有附一樓的照片），晚間客人較少，非常適合讀書、創作、閱讀，任何你想在安靜的空間裡可以做的事。

It's my 1st time experienced this cafe concept where they charged you by the sitting time you spend.
It's really friendly to foreigners with English instruction and it amazed me with the stranger corner.

把厚片的邊邊夾碎了還一直頻頻道歉

A very unique and hidden place on a busy street. Really Feel like I can stay all day. A bit hard to find the first time.but you just look for the staircase on the right of stinky tofu restaurant. Ah- There's a rooftop balcony for smoking too. Definitely will come back here!

有趣的消費計時方式，氣氛溫馨，音樂好聽，一個人來或和朋友來聊天都很適合。餐點是和附近餐廳合作的義大利料理，推薦Calzone義大利烤餃，內餡超多朝燙。推薦另外單點飲料「吧檯手」，都是配方獨到的特調飲料，每位吧檯手都有自己的獨門秘方！值得一再嘗試！

咖啡跟拿鐵普通 可是$30一小塊的布朗尼蛋糕非常好吃 是硬硬的那種 跟外面不一樣 非常特別 適合再外帶一塊回家嗑
位置不多 假日要等 不等就跟別人合桌 實在不方便 無法放鬆 有賣一些自製餅乾
適合一個人下午來獨自讀書工作休息 可是插座有限

This is a great sanctuary to spend some quiet time. They charge based on the time that you spend there, and the essential beverages come as part of the package. Any food you order comes on top. Very reasonable prices. Great ambience and decor. We enjoyed our vanilla coffee and brownie!

一個禮拜前已經向本店訂好了位置，卻在當天到場時直接告知無法坐在我們所選擇的位置，本店似乎沒有好好交代客人預約的位置，直接將位置給予他人，那為何還需要訂位這個舉動呢？
店裡員工仍需努力，有待加強。
